What it is

Sleepy Hollow is a small counter in a colonial house right where Liberty Square meets the hub, with a covered patio of tables looking across the water toward Cinderella Castle. The location is one of the best in the park and it is criminally underused.

The menu is waffles. There is a fresh-fruit waffle with Nutella-style spread, a funnel cake with toppings, and the item that made the place famous — a sweet-and-spicy chicken waffle sandwich, fried chicken pressed between two waffle halves with a chili sauce and slaw.

It also serves breakfast waffles in the morning, which makes it one of the few places at Magic Kingdom to eat something warm before ten a.m. without a reservation.

Our verdict

Punches far above its size. The chicken waffle sandwich is one of the best things in the park at any price, and the covered patio has a castle view for free.

What to order

The dishes this kitchen is actually known for. Menus change seasonally, so treat this as what to look for rather than a guaranteed list.

  • Sweet-and-spicy chicken waffle sandwich
  • Nutella and fresh fruit waffle
  • Funnel cake
  • Breakfast waffle with berries
  • Cold brew

Tips for Sleepy Hollow Refreshments

  • The chicken waffle sandwich is the order. It is one of the three best things you can eat at Magic Kingdom and it costs less than a burger at Cosmic Ray's.
  • The covered patio has a direct sightline to the castle across the water. It is a legitimately good spot to eat during the afternoon parade, which passes right beside it.
  • It opens early for breakfast and is nearly empty at that hour. A warm waffle at 9 a.m. with a castle view and no line is the best breakfast in the park.
  • The funnel cake is huge and best split between three. Ordering one each is a common and expensive mistake.
  • The queue backs onto the walkway and looks longer than it is, because the counter handles two lines at once.

Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich

Sleepy Hollow Refreshments

$14.99

Fried chicken pressed between two waffle halves with a sweet chili sauce and slaw, from the window at the Liberty Square bridge.

Our take: One of the three best things you can eat at Magic Kingdom and it costs less than a quick-service burger. Eat it on the covered patio with the castle view rather than walking with it.

Do not leave without it Savory Walkable

Fresh Fruit and Nutella Waffle

Sleepy Hollow Refreshments

$11.49

A fresh waffle topped with chocolate hazelnut spread, whipped cream and cut strawberries and bananas, served on a plate with a fork.

Our take: Good and enormous, but it is a sit-down item pretending to be street food. Split it between two and eat it at the patio tables — it does not travel.

Sweet Vegetarian

$12.99

A fried funnel cake with powdered sugar and a rotating topping, made to order at the Liberty Square window.

Our take: Fried to order and genuinely good, which is more than most park funnel cakes manage. It is far too large for one person and ordering one each is the standard expensive mistake here.

Can you see the castle from Sleepy Hollow?

Yes. The covered patio faces across the water toward Cinderella Castle, which makes it one of the better free seated views at Magic Kingdom, and it sits directly beside the parade route.

Does Sleepy Hollow serve breakfast?

Yes, waffle-based breakfast items in the morning. It is one of the few quick-service breakfast options in the park with essentially no line before ten a.m.
