What it is
Alien Swirling Saucers is a carnival whip ride dressed up as a toy playset. Saucers tow small rocket cars around two swirling patterns while music plays, and the whole cycle lasts about ninety seconds. It is the ride at Hollywood Studios with the lowest height requirement, at 32 inches, which is why families with toddlers gravitate to it.
It is also, honestly, the weakest attraction Disney has built in this park in twenty years. The ride time is short, the capacity is low, the queue is outdoors, and the experience is a flat ride you could find at a county fair with better theming. On any day where the posted wait exceeds about 25 minutes, it is a poor use of your time.
That said, if you have a three-year-old who cannot ride Slinky Dog Dash, this is a real ride they can do, and their reaction to it will be out of all proportion to the machine. Judge it on that basis and it earns its place.
What riding it is actually like
The queue runs under a partial canopy and is one of the shadier lines in Toy Story Land, which is faint praise but true. Loading is slow because each car takes one adult and one child or two smaller adults, and the operators have to check every lap bar individually.
The ride itself swings you outward hard on the turns. Sit on the outside of the bench if you want the force and the inside if you would rather be the one doing the crushing; whoever sits outside gets pressed into the wall of the car repeatedly.
It is over quickly. The full cycle including load and unload runs about four minutes, of which ninety seconds is motion.

You transfer into a small bench vehicle with a lap bar and a fairly high step in. The lateral swinging is significant, so a guest with a back, neck or shoulder condition should skip this even though it looks tame from the queue.
