When Paradise Pier was split in 2018, the western half became Paradise Gardens Park: the same 2001 flat rides, but with much of the boardwalk hardscape replaced by real planting, mature trees and garden seating. It is the most pleasant land to stand around in and the least impressive to list.

The rides here are the park's second tier — Goofy's Sky School, Silly Symphony Swings, Golden Zephyr, Jumpin' Jellyfish — plus The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure, which is a full omnimover dark ride with no height requirement and rarely a wait over twenty minutes. That last one is the most useful attraction in the park for families and almost nobody plans for it.

Paradise Bay is the venue for World of Color, the park's nighttime show, and the terraced viewing areas along this shore are where the crowd goes after dark. Everything about your evening here is downstream of that fact.

This land also has the best free shade in the park's south half, at the garden tables near the bandstand, and it has Corn Dog Castle, the wine terrace and Wine Country Trattoria, which between them make it the best land to eat in that most people never eat in.

Paradise Gardens Park tips

The best free nighttime-show viewing is the center-back of the main terraced area, not the front rail — the front loses the top of the water screens and soaks you.
Find the staircase to the Alfresco Tasting Terrace above Wine Country Trattoria. It is the quietest adult space at the resort and the entrance is genuinely easy to miss.
Golden Zephyr and Jumpin' Jellyfish both close in wind, which happens often on afternoons near the water. Ride them when you see them running.
Eat at Paradise Garden Grill and take the food to the garden tables by the bandstand — real tree shade and live music, and it is almost always empty.

The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure

A six-minute omnimover through the 1989 film, and the best air-conditioned refuge in the park's southern half.

Ariel's Undersea Adventure opened in 2011 in a building fronted by a giant clamshell facade on Paradise Gardens Park. It is a continuous-loading omnimover — the same vehicle system as the Haunted Mansion — running through the story of the 1989 film in a series of tableau scenes.

Tips for The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure

This is the park's best midday reset: six minutes, air conditioned, seated, and rarely more than a 15-minute wait even when everything else is an hour.
Look at the ceiling during the big musical scene. Half the animation is up there and the vehicle does not tilt you toward it.
If Ursula is the concern with a small child, tell them ahead of time that the loud purple octopus is in one room and then it is over. Warning them almost always works better than distracting them.
The queue is indoors and air conditioned past the first switchback, which is unusual for this park — even a 25-minute posted wait here is more comfortable than a 10-minute wait almost anywhere else.
Repeat visitors: watch for the scrim-and-lighting descent effect right after load. It is a genuinely clever piece of theater that reads as a special effect only if you are looking for it.

Goofy's Sky School

A wild mouse coaster disguised as a kids' ride — the hairpin turns are the real attraction, and they are nastier than they look.

Goofy's Sky School opened in 2011 as a retheme of Mulholland Madness, which had been on the pier since the park's 2001 opening. The layout is a classic Mavericks-style wild mouse: a lift hill, a series of flat 180-degree hairpin turns at the top, then a run of short dipping drops back to the station.

Tips for Goofy's Sky School

Do not treat this as a starter coaster. If a nervous child's first coaster matters, Incredicoaster's smooth launch is actually easier on them than this ride's snapping corners, height requirement aside.
Sit in the front row if the height bothers you less than the lateral force, and the back row if it is the other way around.
This is one of the worst rides in the park for motion sickness — flat, fast corners are the exact trigger. Do not do it right after eating at Corn Dog Castle.
Waits are short all day and shortest in the last hour. This is never worth queueing more than twenty minutes for.
Repeat visitors: read the flight-instruction signage in the queue. It is one continuous escalating joke and almost nobody gets to the end of it.

Silly Symphony Swings

A classic chain swing ride set to a 1935 cartoon soundtrack, with the best free view of Paradise Bay in the park.

Silly Symphony Swings opened in 2010 as a retheme of the Orange Stinger, which had been on the pier since 2001 and enclosed the same swings inside a giant orange. Removing the shell was the best decision anyone made in the park's first decade — the ride went from a claustrophobic spin inside a fruit to an open-air swing over the water.

Tips for Silly Symphony Swings

Ride this right after sunset. The view across Paradise Bay with the pier lit is the reason to do it, and the wait at that hour is usually under fifteen minutes.
The 40-inch requirement applies to the tandem swings ridden with an adult. Riding alone in a single swing needs 48 inches — a distinction that catches out a lot of families at the loading gate.
Take nothing loose. Phones, hats and sunglasses do come out of pockets on this ride and the recovery area under the tower is not accessible during operation.
Tandem swings with two adults swing harder than the singles. If you want more out of it, that is the configuration.
Repeat visitors: the soundtrack is an arrangement of the score from a 1935 short, and there is a storm sequence in the music that lines up with the fastest part of the rotation.

Golden Zephyr

Polished-steel rockets on cables that swing out over Paradise Bay, straight out of a 1928 world's fair.

Golden Zephyr is a reproduction of a 1920s amusement pier ride, the kind built when rocket travel was a magazine-cover fantasy rather than a thing anyone had done. Six burnished silver rockets hang from cables off a central tower, and when the tower rotates they swing outward over the edge of Paradise Bay.

Tips for Golden Zephyr

Ride it when you see it running. Wind closures are frequent and unannounced, and there is no way to predict them from the app.
This is the gentlest height-restricted ride in the park at 42 inches — which is oddly high for how tame it is, and it disappoints a lot of five-year-olds who could easily handle it.
Face outward toward the bay at load if you want the view; the inward-facing bench looks at the tower.
Waits are almost always under ten minutes even at peak. It is one of the few genuinely low-friction things to do in the middle of the afternoon.

Jumpin' Jellyfish

A gentle parachute tower where jellyfish-shaped canopies lift you forty feet and let you drift back down.

Jumpin' Jellyfish has been on the pier since 2001 and is one of only two original Paradise Pier flat rides still operating unchanged. Two towers, each with a set of open seats suspended beneath a translucent jellyfish canopy, lift riders up and then release them into a slow, cushioned descent with a few soft bounces at the bottom.

Tips for Jumpin' Jellyfish

It closes in wind, like Golden Zephyr next door. Ride when you see it running rather than saving it for later.
For a child nervous about heights, this is the right stepping stone before Silly Symphony Swings — the seat is secure, the pace is slow, and it is over in a minute.
Waits look longer than they are because the tower is visible from the whole walkway; capacity per cycle is small but cycles are fast.
Sunset is the best light for the translucent canopies, which glow from underneath at that hour.
Repeat visitors: the two towers run independently and one is consistently faster to load than the other. Watch for a minute at the split and pick the moving side.

World of Color

The park's nighttime show: a 25-minute water, light, fire and projection production staged on Paradise Bay.

World of Color debuted in 2010 and remains the largest piece of nighttime entertainment at the Disneyland Resort. It is built on roughly 1,200 programmable fountains in Paradise Bay, which project water screens that film is then mapped onto, combined with lasers, flame effects, lighting on the surrounding structures, and a full orchestral soundtrack.

Tips for World of Color

The best free standing spot is the center-back of the main terraced viewing area, not the front rail. You want to see the full width of the water screens, and the front rows lose the top of the image and get soaked in mist.
A Lightning Lane Multi Pass reservation for the show gets you into a reserved section without the two-hour standing commitment, and it is the single most valuable use of a Multi Pass selection at this park.
Dining packages at some park restaurants include a reserved viewing area. Do the arithmetic honestly: you are paying a premium on the meal for a location that is good but not the best in the venue.
If you skip it, leave the park before it ends, not after. The exit surge after the finale takes 30 to 40 minutes to clear the esplanade.
Bring a layer. Anaheim after dark near a body of water with a thousand fountains running is meaningfully colder than the same spot at 4pm, and the mist compounds it.

Paradise Garden Bandstand

A small covered bandstand in the gardens off Paradise Bay hosting rotating live musical acts.

The Paradise Garden Bandstand sits in the planted area between the walkway and the water, and it hosts live music on a rotating schedule — mariachi ensembles, steel drum groups, jazz combos and similar acts depending on the day and the season. The programming is not fixed and is posted on the entertainment times board.

Tips for Paradise Garden Bandstand

This is the best free shaded seating in the park's southern half. Bring food from Paradise Garden Grill and eat here rather than at a picnic table in the sun.
Check the entertainment board at the park entrance for the day's acts — the app is less reliable for atmosphere entertainment.
It is a good waiting spot before the nighttime show, since it is a two-minute walk from the main viewing terraces.
Repeat visitors: the act rotation varies by day of the week rather than randomly, so if you saw a group you liked, the same slot on the same weekday is your best chance of catching them again.
