A launched indoor coaster whose spinning cars turn to follow the action, with the biggest reverse launch at Walt Disney World.
Cosmic Rewind opened in May 2022 inside the pavilion that housed Universe of Energy for forty years, and it is the most technically ambitious ride Disney has built in Florida. The trains launch backward out of the station, then run a long, twisting circuit through a black show building while each vehicle rotates independently on its chassis so that the scene Disney wants you looking at is always in front of you.
Tips for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
- Song roulette is real. Six different tracks run, and riders chase specific ones. You cannot request a song, but the train you board determines it, so back-to-back rides do give you different music.
- The single longest standby waits of the day are 10 AM to 1 PM. The line drops sharply in the last ninety minutes before park close while everyone is staking out lagoon spots for the nighttime show.
- Row placement matters less than usual because the car rotates, but the last row on each train gets the sharpest backward launch. Ask for it — it costs nothing and the cast members are used to the request.
- Loose items must go in a free locker or a zippered pouch. There are no seat pockets. Sort your phone situation before you reach the load platform or you will hold up the line.
- If you are prone to motion sickness, this is the ride at EPCOT most likely to get you — more than Mission: SPACE Green, less than Mission: SPACE Orange. Eat first, not after.
