What it is

Les Halles is tucked down an alley at the back of the France pavilion, styled as a Parisian market hall with a long counter of baguette sandwiches, quiche, croissants, éclairs, macarons, tarts and a case of small pastries, plus wine and beer by the glass.

The jambon-beurre — ham and butter on a baguette, nothing else — is the single best cheap lunch at EPCOT. It costs about a third of what a table-service entree costs, it is made on genuinely good bread, and it is portable.

The pastry case is the strongest in any Disney park. The Napoleon and the almond croissant are the reference orders. Everything is made in a real bakery kitchen on site rather than shipped in.

Our verdict

The best bakery at Walt Disney World and the smartest cheap meal at EPCOT — the jambon-beurre alone justifies walking to the far end of the loop.

Tips for Les Halles Boulangerie-Pâtisserie

  • The queue splits into two lines inside the door — one for sandwiches and hot items, one for the pastry case. Look at both before joining; they move at different speeds.
  • The jambon-beurre is the order. It is unglamorous, it costs about twelve dollars, and it is better than most twenty-eight-dollar plates on the loop.
  • There is indoor seating at the back and an outdoor courtyard, both of which people miss because the counter is what faces you when you walk in.
  • Buy pastries in the morning. The case is fully stocked early and the best items are gone by late afternoon on a busy day.
  • Wine by the glass is available here at a fraction of restaurant prices. A glass of Bordeaux and a baguette in the courtyard is the cheapest good hour in World Showcase.

Jambon-Beurre Baguette

Les Halles Boulangerie-Pâtisserie

$12.50

Ham and butter on a fresh baguette. Nothing else — no lettuce, no mayonnaise, no cheese.

Our take: The smartest lunch at EPCOT. Twelve dollars, made on genuinely good bread, and better than plenty of twenty-eight-dollar plates a hundred feet away.

Do not leave without it Savory Walkable

Layers of caramelized puff pastry alternating with vanilla pastry cream, finished with a glazed top.

Our take: The strongest item in the strongest pastry case on Disney property. Buy it in the morning — the best pieces are gone by late afternoon.

Les Halles Boulangerie-Pâtisserie: common questions

What should I order at Les Halles?

The jambon-beurre baguette for a meal and the Napoleon for dessert. Both are what the bakery does best and both are cheap by park standards.

Is there seating at Les Halles?

Yes — an indoor room at the back and an outdoor courtyard, both easy to miss because the counter dominates the entrance. Walk past the queue to find them.

Is Les Halles good for breakfast?

It is one of the better breakfasts at EPCOT: croissants, pain au chocolat and quiche with coffee, at a fraction of table-service prices. It opens with the World Showcase pavilions rather than at park opening, so check times.

Can you get wine at a bakery?

Yes. Les Halles pours wine and beer by the glass at considerably lower prices than the sit-down restaurants a hundred feet away.
