What it is

Tiffins opened in 2016 as the park's fine-dining anchor and it is the only restaurant at Animal Kingdom that behaves like a real restaurant. Three dining rooms display concept art, field sketches, photographs and objects collected by the Imagineering teams who researched Africa, Asia and Pandora - the Trek gallery in particular is worth arriving early to walk. Ask a server to explain a piece and most of them can.

The kitchen cooks globally without doing the theme park thing of gesturing at cuisines. Expect whole fried fish, wagyu, seafood curries, and vegetable plates built with actual technique rather than as an afterthought. Portions are moderate and plating is careful, which is the correct approach at this price and also the reason people who came expecting a huge plate leave grumbling.

The name refers to the stacked tin lunch containers used across South Asia, which is a better fit than it sounds - the menu is assembled from parts that travel.

Our verdict

The best food at Animal Kingdom by a wide margin and genuinely good by non-park standards, but you are paying signature prices in a park that shuts at dinnertime. Book lunch, or eat at Nomad Lounge instead and spend the difference on the safari tour.

What to order

The dishes this kitchen is actually known for. Menus change seasonally, so treat this as what to look for rather than a guaranteed list.

  • Whole-fried sustainable fish
  • Wagyu strip loin
  • Charred octopus
  • Bread service with house spreads
  • Vegetable tasting plate

Tips for Tiffins Restaurant

  • Book a late lunch instead of dinner. The menu overlaps heavily, the room is quieter, and you are not fighting the park's early closing time.
  • Ask for a table in the Trek gallery. The three rooms are not equal - that one has the field research material and the best light.
  • Tiffins is signature dining, which means it costs two dining plan credits and a jacket-free but grown-up atmosphere. It is not a room for a restless four-year-old at 7 PM.
  • Repeat-visitor note: you can order the full Tiffins menu next door at Nomad Lounge in most cases. If you want the food without the price of the room or a reservation you cannot get, that is the move.
  • Animal Kingdom closes early. Check the park's closing time before booking dinner - the restaurant stays open past close, but you will be walking out of an empty park.

Whole-Fried Sustainable Fish

Tiffins Restaurant

$52

A whole fish fried and served head-on with sauces and garnishes, the signature dish at the park's fine-dining restaurant since it opened in 2016.

Our take: The most ambitious plate in the park and worth ordering once if you are eating at Tiffins at all. It arrives whole and head-on, which is the point - do not order it for someone who will be upset by that.

Tiffins Restaurant: common questions

Is Tiffins worth the price?

For food quality, yes - it is a real restaurant, not a themed cafeteria. For value, it is a hard sell in a park with the shortest operating day at Walt Disney World. A late lunch gets you most of the experience for less disruption to your day.

Can I get Tiffins food without a reservation?

Usually, at Nomad Lounge next door, which shares a kitchen and serves most of the Tiffins menu alongside its own smaller plates. Walk-ups at Nomad are possible, though you may wait.

Is Tiffins good for kids?

There is a children's menu and nobody will be rude to you, but the room is quiet, the pacing is slow and the food is aimed at adults. Families with young children generally have a better time at Tusker House.

Does Tiffins use two dining plan credits?

Yes, it is a signature restaurant on the dining plan. Whether that is good value depends entirely on how you order - it is only worth two credits if you take an appetizer and dessert.
