Disney at spring break and Easter: which weeks are survivable and what they cost
Spring break at Disney is a six-week rolling peak rather than a single week, and the difference between the best and worst week inside it is larger than the difference between spring and any other season — which makes date selection the only decision on this page that matters.

The six-week rolling shape of American spring break and the position of the Easter peak have held across the 2023, 2024 and 2025 seasons at both resorts. Festival windows are drawn from those same three cycles. Food and Lightning Lane bands are July 2026 figures, labelled as such. No 2027 festival dates have been verified by us as of July 2026.
Your options, by resort
Both coasts do this differently, and the right answer depends on which one you are going to.
Walt Disney World
- EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival — The best food value of the four EPCOT festivals and the worst calendar — go in the opening fortnight before spring break arrives, and it is comfortably the strongest of the four for families with children.
- Disney After Hours — The best per-ride value Walt Disney World sells, and only if you ride hard for the full three hours — buy it at Hollywood Studios or Magic Kingdom, and do not buy it at Animal Kingdom.
Disneyland Resort
- Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival — A two-month food festival included with admission, and the whole value sits in its first three weeks, before the spring break crowd arrives - that stretch is the second of the two quietest good windows at either Disney resort. After the schools break, it is the same festival in a park twice as full at a higher ticket price.
- Disneyland After Dark — A series of separately ticketed themed nights rather than one recurring event, and the theme is what you are actually paying for - the short ride waits are a side effect, not the product. Buy it when the night's theme is something you would pay for on its own, and never buy it as a way to skip lines.
The short answer
Go in the first full week of March or the second week after Easter, and refuse the two weeks bracketing Easter itself at any price. Spring break does not happen in one week — American school districts stagger across roughly six weeks from late February to mid-April, which keeps both resorts busy for the whole span while concentrating the genuine peak into the fortnight around Easter.
Both resorts run a spring festival that is included with a park ticket. The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival runs roughly 100 days from late February or early March, and the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival runs roughly 60 days from late February or March into late April. Neither needs a separate ticket. Food items ran $5 to $13 at EPCOT and $6 to $15 at Disney California Adventure as of July 2026, which is the real cost of both.
There is no spring hard-ticket party at either resort. Disney After Hours at Walt Disney World and Disneyland After Dark in Anaheim run selected nights through the spring, at $139 to $209 per night in Florida for the 2025 cycle, and they are the only way to buy a quiet park during the busiest ticket season of the first half of the year.
Which weeks are actually quiet
The first full week of March is the best week of the spring at both resorts. Most districts have not broken yet, the festivals are running, weather in both Orlando and Anaheim is at its most comfortable point of the year, and ticket tiers have not reached their spring ceiling. This is the week we would book without hesitating.
The second and third weeks after Easter are the second-best window, and they are underrated. Districts have returned, the festivals are still running at both resorts, and prices step down from the peak within days of Easter Monday. Late April at Disney California Adventure catches the tail of its Food & Wine Festival with a fraction of the crowd it had in March.
The two weeks bracketing Easter are the peak, and they behave like Christmas week with better weather. Ticket tiers, hotel rates, and Lightning Lane pricing all reach the top of their bands. Because Easter moves between late March and late April, the peak moves with it — check where Easter falls in your travel year before you assume a given week is safe.
Presidents' week in February and the week around Saint Patrick's Day are secondary spikes at Walt Disney World, and the week of the Los Angeles Unified spring break is a secondary spike in Anaheim. None of them reaches Easter's level, but all three are visibly busier than the weeks either side.
What the season costs
Spring is the second-most expensive ticket season of the year at both resorts, behind only the Christmas and New Year window. A one-day Walt Disney World ticket sat in the upper half of its $119 to $209 band across the spring break span as of July 2026, and a one-day Disneyland Resort ticket in the upper half of its $104 to $214 band. Both push to the top of the band in the fortnight around Easter.
Lightning Lane pricing follows the same shape and moves faster. Multi Pass at Walt Disney World sat at $15 to $45 per person per day as of July 2026, and the spring break weeks live in the top third of that band at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Anaheim's $30 to $45 band compresses less, because it starts higher.
The festivals are the cost control. Both spring festivals are free to walk through and priced per item, so a family can spend $20 or $200 depending entirely on how many booths they visit. Treat the festival as your lunch rather than an addition to it and the spring season becomes noticeably cheaper than the autumn one, where a party ticket is close to compulsory.
The Easter weekend question
Easter Sunday itself is one of the three busiest days of the year at Magic Kingdom and at Disneyland Park, alongside New Year's Eve and the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. Both resorts run Easter-specific character content and a modest amount of seasonal decoration; neither runs a hard-ticket Easter event, and there is nothing to buy that improves the day.
Good Friday through Easter Monday should be treated as four consecutive top-tier days rather than a weekend with a peak in it. If your dates are fixed across Easter, the practical move is to use the weekend for a water park, Disney Springs or Downtown Disney, or a day out of the parks entirely, and take your park days on the Tuesday and Wednesday after.
Park reservations and capacity limits have historically applied more tightly across this weekend than at any other point in the spring. Check whether your ticket type requires a reservation for your dates before you assume entry is guaranteed.
Which resort to pick for the spring
Pick Walt Disney World for the spring festival and the Disneyland Resort for the weather and the shorter peak. EPCOT's Flower & Garden Festival is the larger of the two spring festivals by a wide margin, runs for roughly 100 days, and converts a whole park rather than a section of one. Disney California Adventure's Food & Wine Festival is smaller, shorter, and concentrated along one walkway.
Anaheim's spring peak is narrower because California school districts cluster their breaks more tightly than the national spread does. Outside the Easter fortnight and the Los Angeles Unified week, a March or April weekday at the Disneyland Resort is one of the better-value days of its year.
Florida in April is the last comfortable month before the summer humidity arrives, and the last month in which a full day outdoors at Animal Kingdom or Hollywood Studios is pleasant rather than endured. If a Florida trip has to happen in the first half of the year, April after Easter is the month we would choose.
