What it is

WEB SLINGERS opened with Avengers Campus in June 2021 and is the only ride at the Disneyland Resort where the control input is your own body. There is no blaster. A gesture-tracking system reads your arm motion, and a flick forward launches a web on screen. Spider-Man has lost control of an army of spider-bots and you are recruited to sling them back into containment.

It is a competitive scoring ride first and a story ride second. The screens are large, dense, and busy, and the difference between a rider who understands the scoring and one who does not is enormous — first-timers routinely finish under 100,000 while people who know what they are doing clear a million.

The ride is also the anchor of a broader Avengers Campus gimmick: the physical spider-bot toys sold nearby interact with elements around the land, and wearing a WEB-branded suit jacket unlocks in-ride bonuses. None of that is required to enjoy it, but it explains the merchandise you will see people carrying.

What riding it is actually like

The queue winds through the WEB workshop with real props and a genuinely good pre-show featuring a Spider-Man animatronic that performs a stunt Disney had not attempted at this scale before. Do not rush it.

You put on 3D glasses and board a trackless vehicle that seats four. The vehicle glides, spins and reverses through a series of screen rooms, and the spider-bots come from every direction including behind you. Two-handed slinging doubles your output — throw both arms, not one. Aim for the bots clustered near mechanical objects, because chain reactions score far higher than single hits.

The best seat is the outside of the vehicle rather than the inside, because your throwing arm has clear space. On the final room, stop chasing individual bots and just sling continuously into the middle of the screen; volume beats accuracy in the last thirty seconds.

Is WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure scary?

A slow-moving trackless dark ride with 3D glasses. The rooms are dim and the vehicle rotates and reverses unexpectedly, which unsettles some riders more than the content does. The spider-bots swarming toward you in 3D are the only element that reliably startles young kids.

Wheelchair-accessible vehicles load from a separate bay; ask at the merge point rather than at the entrance. The gameplay is arm-motion based, and there is a lower-effort mode using smaller gestures if full arm extension is not possible — tell a cast member at load.

Tips that actually help

  • Sling with both arms simultaneously, at chest height, with a short sharp flick. Big windmill motions register worse than small precise ones and wear your shoulders out by the second room.
  • Target bots that are attached to or near objects. Knocking one into a stack triggers a cascade worth many times a direct hit.
  • Sit on the outside seats if you care about your score — the inside seats have a person's arm in your throwing lane.
  • There is no single rider line here, and standby builds early because the land opens with the park. If you are not doing this in the first hour, use Lightning Lane Multi Pass or accept a long afternoon wait.
  • Repeat visitors: the ride tracks a cumulative score if you keep the same account linked, and wearing a WEB Suppliers suit jacket enables extra in-ride effects. Neither is advertised anywhere on the ride itself.

WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure: common questions

Is there a height requirement for WEB SLINGERS?

No. There is no minimum height, which makes it one of the few attractions in Avengers Campus the whole family can do together. Small children can ride with an adult and simply watch if they cannot manage the arm motion.

How do I get a high score?

Use both arms, keep the motions small and fast, and prioritize bots near stacked objects to trigger chain reactions. Hitting the same target repeatedly builds a multiplier. In the final room, sling continuously rather than aiming.

Will this make me motion sick?

It can. The vehicle rotates and travels backward while you are wearing 3D glasses and focusing on a moving screen, which is the classic recipe. If Star Tours or Toy Story Midway Mania bothers you, take the same precautions here — look at a fixed point in the vehicle if you feel it starting.

Do I need to buy a spider-bot or a jacket?

No. They are optional merchandise. The jackets do unlock additional in-ride effects and the physical spider-bots interact with elements elsewhere in Avengers Campus, but the ride is complete without either.

Is it scary for young children?

Mildly. The rooms are dim and the 3D swarm effects come at your face, which surprises toddlers on first ride. There is no threat, no drop, and nothing menacing. Most four-year-olds handle it fine after being told what to expect.
